The first trainings under the program “Protection of Ukrenergo’s repairmen” were held in Kyiv and the region . Energy sector employees have mastered critical first aid skills. The program was developed by FAST instructors specifically for the needs of repair teams, taking into account the risks that accompany their work in war conditions on a daily basis.
The power engineers practiced tourniquet application, massive bleeding control, wound tamponade, consciousness assessment, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Upon completion of the course, the power engineers received personalized certificates confirming their readiness to help their colleagues in case of danger.

The project was supported by the Andriy Matyukha Foundation. Within the framework of the cooperation, it is planned to hold 75 one-day sessions for repair teams and technical staff of NPC Ukrenergo. In total, about 1500 power engineers are to be trained by the end of the program.

Training for power engineers is part of the broader activities of the Andriy Matyukha Foundation
The program was born out of real challenges. Since the start of the full-scale war, more than 30 massive attacks have damaged more than 63,000 energy infrastructure facilities. At least 160 employees have been killed, 13 of them on the job. More than 300 others were injured.
Power engineers provide electricity even after the shelling. For our part, we have created courses that allow people to learn how to save lives even before the ambulance arrives. This knowledge is essential in the working conditions of power engineers,” said Andriy Matyukha.
In 2025, the organization twice supported the provision of modern equipment for the emergency surgery department of Okhmatdyt and joined the international initiative with the participation of the mayors of Brussels and Kyiv, Origami for Ukraine, which aims to draw attention to raising funds for the rehabilitation of Ukrainian soldiers.
