Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has said that a potential meeting with US President Donald Trump could take place in the United Arab Emirates, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

He made the statement on August 7 during a meeting with UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Moscow, novyny.live reports, citing Russian propaganda media.

“We have many friends who are ready to help organize such events. One of them is the President of the United Arab Emirates. I think we will decide, but this would be one of the appropriate places,” Putin said.

He also commented on the prospect of talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, noting that he did not rule out such a meeting, but, in his opinion, “it is still far away.”

“I have repeatedly said that I have nothing against it. It is possible, but appropriate conditions must be created for this. Unfortunately, this is still a long way off,” Putin said.

On August 7, the Kremlin announced a possible meeting between Putin and Trump in the near future. The United States also initiated the participation of Volodymyr Zelenskyy, but the Russian side has not yet officially responded. According to sources, Putin’s change in position on the talks could have been caused by the threat of new US sanctions.
