Following the tightening of international sanctions against Russia, the Kremlin has changed its rhetoric on Russia’s war against Ukraine. The Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin confirmed his readiness to adopt the US concept and move according to its principles to resolve the situation in Ukraine in a practical way. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said this in an interview with the Hungarian YouTube channel Ultrahang, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

According to Lavrov, at a meeting with his American counterpart Donald Trump in Anchorage, Putin confirmed Moscow’s readiness to accept the US plan for a war against Ukraine.

Prior to the summit, U.S. Special Envoy Steven Witkoff brought to Moscow Washington’s proposals for a war against Ukraine. The Russian side carefully studied these documents before the talks.

During the meeting, Putin repeated each element of the concept in detail, asking Vitkoff:

“Is it true? Is it true?”

Lavrov noted that all elements of the concept were confirmed, after which Putin said that Russia was ready to accept the US proposals and move forward in a practical way on the basis proposed.

Earlier, Donald Trump said that the Russian leader wants to achieve peace in Ukraine.

“I think Putin wants this to end,” the American president said.

Lavrov’s statement emphasizes the Kremlin’s readiness to consider peace initiatives proposed by Washington, although the details of the specific plan remain unknown.

Trump cancels second meeting with Putin

on October 16, the presidents of Russia and the United States held a two-hour conversation. “Great progress” was made during the dialog, Trump said. According to him, he agreed to hold a second meeting with Putin this time in the Hungarian capital Budapest.

Later, CNN reported that Lavrov’s meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, which was supposed to take place before the summit, was postponed. It was claimed that the reason for this was different expectations regarding the Ukrainian settlement.

on October 23, Trump announced the cancellation of his meeting with Putin in Budapest. According to him, he had the impression that he “will not be able to achieve the desired goal,” but the head of state did not rule out the possibility of a meeting in the future. Putin, commenting on his decision, noted that Trump’s words were more about postponing the meeting in Budapest rather than canceling it entirely.
