The Rada may consider the resignation of Pronin and Kuleba: what is the reason?

EXCLUSIVE

Yesterday, several media outlets cited their sources as saying that the Verkhovna Rada intends to consider the resignation of Deputy Prime Minister for Recovery Oleksiy Kuleba and Head of the State Financial Monitoring Service Philip Pronin. Sources of the [Komersant ] publication also did not deny the possibility of dismissal.

The official reasons for this “initiative” include the energy scandal and the Mindich tapes, respectively. In particular, on Monday, Philip Pronin, answering questions from MPs, said that financial monitoring had not recorded “a single suspicious transaction ” in relation to the Mindich tapes.

However, unofficial versions of the incident include the following: the release of Pronin and Kuleba is a condition of the EU faction, under which the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada will be unblocked.

What preceded this

Yesterday, the European Solidarity faction blocked the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada during the consideration of the resolution on the resignation of Justice Minister Herman Halushchenko and Energy Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk.

Today we will not allow voting for the resignation of these two ministers. We declare responsibly: we will not vote for this attempt to let off steam and preserve the corruption vertical. We call for a decisive stop to the government of “Ali Baba” (according to MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak, the head of the Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak, appears on NABU records under the pseudonym “Ali Baba” – ed.), a decisive formation of a coalition, a decisive redistribution of money for the front, a decisive restoration of the trust of partners and the people, and a decisive rescue of Ukraine,” Petro Poroshenko said from the rostrum.

Parliament Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk then announced a break in the session and called the parliamentarians together for consultations.

It should be noted that after the NSDC imposed sanctions on Petro Poroshenko, in April 2025, Channel 5 wrote that it was the head of the State Finance Ministry who facilitated the sanctions against the politician.

In addition, in February of this year, MPs from the EU faction went to the State Financial Monitoring Service, “demanding a meeting with Pronin and explanations about the sanctions against Petro Poroshenko.”

Sanctions against Petro Poroshenko: what you need to know

on February 12, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy enacted a decision of the National Security and Defense Council that imposed sanctions on Petro Poroshenko, Ihor Kolomoisky, Hennadiy Boholyubov, Kostiantyn Zhevago, and Viktor Medvedchuk. All of them were accused of pro-Russian activities, in particular, on the basis of a number of relevant criminal proceedings initiated by law enforcement agencies.

At the same time, it was noted that sanctions against Petro Poroshenko were imposed on the basis of information provided by the head of the State Financial Monitoring Service, Philip Pronin.
