The Rada supported the “reset” of customs: what is known

On Tuesday, 17 September, the Parliament approved the draft law on customs reboot as a whole. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" reports with reference to the website of the Website of the Verkhovna Rada.

“The bill was voted in favour by 260 MPs. It envisages a transparent competition for the position of the head of the State Customs Service, its political independence, re-certification of all employees, salary increases, etc.

This is an important structural beacon from the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and the United States that will unlock $6 billion in aid for Ukraine.

What we know about the draft law No. 6490-d

This draft law changes the procedure for the competitive selection of the head of the Customs Service.

It also introduces an annual external audit of customs. In case of a negative audit report, it will be a valid reason for the dismissal of the Head.

Within a year after the election of the new head, all customs officers will be re-certified. In case of unsuccessful re-certification, this will mean dismissal of the employee.

Salaries for customs officers are also being raised.
