The Verkhovna Rada officially resumes broadcasting parliamentary sessions. The resolution was signed by Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk. This was announced by MP and chairman of the Committee on Freedom of Speech Yaroslav Yurchyshyn, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

“Broadcasts of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine are officially back! The resolution on the resumption of broadcasts of the Verkhovna Rada was signed by Chairman Ruslan Stefanchuk. I would like to thank you for the honest dialog and this decision. I also thank all my parliamentary colleagues who supported the resolution,” the MP wrote.

He added that the next meeting is on September 16. From then on, parliamentary sessions will be broadcast live on Rada TV channel and on the official YouTube channel of the parliamentary broadcaster.

“The next session is on September 16, and this date should be the beginning of the broadcasts on the Rada TV channel and YouTube channel. Now it’s for sure: we have achieved it. You’ve made it. People with cards, people in the comments, the media community, and everyone who wants to see the Rada more open. This is your victory,” Yurchyshyn said.

Why the broadcasts were suspended

Since the beginning of the full-scale war in February 2022, broadcasts of the Verkhovna Rada meetings have been suspended for security reasons to prevent the leakage of sensitive information about decision-making, defense discussions, and the movement of MPs.

However, Oleksiy Honcharenko, a member of the European Solidarity party, still held live broadcasts on several platforms.

In January 2025, broadcasts of parliamentary committee meetings resumed.

on July 31, the Verkhovna Rada meeting was broadcast online for the first time in three years, when MPs voted for a new law on the NABU and the SAPO.

on September 4, the Verkhovna Rada voted to resume broadcasting the meetings.
