Rada dismisses Minister Solskyi from office

Today, on 9 May, members of the Verkhovna Rada supported the resignation of Mykola Solsky as Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food. Solsky himself wrote a letter of resignation. This was reported by the MPs on Telegram, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

Solsky spoke at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada with a report on the work of the ministry.

“273 MPs voted in favour of Solsky’s resignation. At the same time, 36 MPs abstained from voting.

It should be noted that Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Solskyi submitted his resignation to the Verkhovna Rada on 25 April after being served with a notice of suspicion of misappropriation of state land worth UAH 291 million and an attempt to misappropriate another UAH 190 million.

The minister, for his part, said that this relates to the period from 2017 to 2018, when he was practicing law. Solsky also said that the case involved a dispute between state-owned enterprises and individuals who had been legally transferred land.

The High Anti-Corruption Court imposed a measure of restraint on Solsky in the form of arrest with an alternative of bail in the amount of UAH 75 million 700 thousand.

Theminister was bailed out by the court in the amount of UAH 75.7 million, but the ministry did not specify who did it. Mykola Solsky was released from custody and, moreover, continued to perform his duties as Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.

Solsky had been in office since March 2022.

Earlier, Kommersant Ukrainian wrote that a decision had been made at the highest political level to dismiss Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Community, Territorial and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine, and Mustafa-Masi Nayem, Head of the State Agency for the Restoration and Development of Infrastructure of Ukraine.

The dismissal of the two officials was discussed on the sidelines earlier, but the final decision to dismiss them was made in connection with the situation with the construction of inadequate protection at some important critical infrastructure facilities.

Resignations in the Cabinet of Ministers

As reported, the Cabinet of Ministers and other government agencies are to be reshuffled. Thus, personnel changes may take place in the government, the SBU, and the Prosecutor General’s Office. The number of ministers who may lose their positions has increased. According to Kommersant Ukrainsky, the Rada may dismiss 3 ministers this week.

In particular, the following ministers may resign: Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Iryna Vereshchuk, Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi, Minister of Justice Denys Malyuska, and Minister of Agrarian Policy Mykola Solskyi.

Some media outlets reported that Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Iryna Vereshchuk was allegedly to be dismissed and appointed head of the Ternopil Regional Military Administration. She stated that the information was untrue.
