Kubrakov was dismissed from his post in order to create a separate Ministry for the Development of Communities, Territories and Housing and Communal Services.
“The Deputy Prime Minister himself was not in the room. Neither was the Prime Minister. It’s also unclear who is in his place. Nobody knows when the appointment will be made,”
– yaroslav Zheleznyak, a member of the Voice party, wrote on his Telegram channel.
Oleksandr Kubrakov commented on the draft resolution on his dismissal on his Facebook page.
“I am always ready for an open dialogue and a detailed report on the work of the Ministry in all areas under my responsibility. The leadership of the faction and Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal did not discuss this decision with me. I was not invited to the meeting of the faction and the relevant committee,”
– kubrakov wrote.
He recalled that he had been the head of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine since May 2021. In December 2022, the Verkhovna Rada decided to appoint him Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine and Minister of the new, unified ministry.
“Regarding the vote for this draft resolution by the Verkhovna Rada, we have come a long way in 5 years of working together. With an absolute majority, we are moving in the same direction. Everyone makes decisions in accordance with their beliefs and is responsible for it,”
– the Deputy Prime Minister added.
Earlier, Kommersant Ukrainian wrote that the highest political level had decided to dismiss Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine, and Mustafa-Masi Nayem, Head of the State Agency for the Restoration and Development of Infrastructure of Ukraine.
The dismissal of the two officials was discussed on the sidelines earlier, but the final decision to dismiss them was made in connection with the situation with the construction of inadequate protection at some important critical infrastructure facilities.
Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine voted to summon Infrastructure Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov and the head of the State Agency for the Restoration and Development of Infrastructure Mustafa Nayem to a meeting to discuss the protection of critical infrastructure following Russia’s recent missile and drone attacks on such facilities.
