Ukraine has initiated an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council in connection with Russia’s large-scale missile attack on Kyiv, which killed at least 16 people, including two children, and left more than 150 wounded. This was announced by Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Sybiga on social network X (Twitter), "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

The UN Security Council meeting began on the evening of August 1.

The Ukrainian delegation plans to present evidence of crimes and call on the international community to take new steps in response to the Kremlin’s actions.

“An emergency meeting of the UN Security Council under the agenda item “Support for peace and security of Ukraine” will be held on August 1,” Sibiga wrote.

According to him, Russia is deliberately escalating terror, and yesterday’s shelling of the capital is another proof that Vladimir Putin is not interested in diplomatic initiatives, but rather continues the path of violence and destruction.

“Putin rejects peace efforts and wants to continue his war. And the world has the necessary power to stop him – with united pressure and a principled position in favor of a complete, immediate and unconditional ceasefire,” Sibiga emphasized.

As a reminder, on the night of July 31, Kyiv suffered the largest air attack in recent months. The shells hit residential buildings, medical facilities and social infrastructure.
