Fico’s advisor resigns over correspondence with Epstein: details

Advisor to Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico and former Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajčák resigned after being implicated in the case of Jeffrey Epstein, a suspected pedophile and pimp for billionaires.

This was reported by Slovak publications Spravy and Dennikn, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

Lajčák decided to resign after his correspondence with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein was made public.

“Greetings from Kyiv! I just want to confirm that the girls here are as beautiful as ever,” wrote Slovak diplomat and then-Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajčák to Epstein in October 2018.

This conversation is part of more than three million pages of documents from the investigation into convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, which the US Department of Justice released on Friday. According to Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, the materials contain more than 2,000 videos and 180,000 images.

He added that much of it is commercial pornography and photographs “seized from Epstein’s devices.”

Lajčák’s name is mentioned 346 times in the documents. The published materials indicate further meetings between Lajčák and Jeffrey Epstein, as well as friendly conversations about “girls.” The name “Miro,” as Epstein often referred to Lajčák, appears in the files more than 700 times.

Laichak initially denied the connection and stated that he “did not understand” how his name could have been signed under these messages. He later admitted that he had communicated with Epstein.

The politician assured that: “Women were never part of our communication. Absolutely never. I am ready to confirm this statement in any way. As a professional diplomat, I am not so naive as to take any action that could lead to my discrediting.”

Lajčák emphasized that if he had known about the full extent of Epstein’s actions in the past, he would not have communicated with him.

Robert Fico responded to the situation on social media, deciding to accept his resignation.

“Miro has proven himself to be an excellent diplomat, and I accept his offer to end our cooperation,” the prime minister wrote on social media.

Miroslav Lajčák was Slovakia’s foreign minister from 2012 to 2020. From 2017 to 2018, he chaired the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly, and from January 1 to December 31, 2019, he was the executive chairman of the OSCE.

As a reminder, American financier Epstein committed suicide in a New York prison in 2019. According to investigators, he created an illegal network in which he supplied underage girls to wealthy people for sexual entertainment.

Rumors are spreading online that current President Donald Trump was one of Epstein’s “clients.” In particular, there was talk of his acquaintance with a 14-year-old girl. However, Trump has not yet been officially named as a defendant in the criminal case and denies any information about his friendship with Epstein.
