Rocket salute to the US Independence Day: Chaly on the symbolism of the night attack

4 July 20:28

Congratulating the United States on its national holiday has become unpopular in Ukraine today. Unless it’s combined with sarcasm about the “festive salute” of Russian missiles and drones on the capital and other cities of Ukraine.

It is obvious that this night attack is clearly tied to the 4th of July and is intended to use the time when the supply of American missile defense systems, which could save the lives of many Ukrainians, is stalled, and to “spit in the face” of US President Donald Trump after his completely empty and inappropriate conversation with the Kremlin. This opinion was expressed by Valeriy Chaly, a Ukrainian diplomat and former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United States, on Facebook.

“After the congratulations to the US President from the Russian criminal, I don’t want to send my own.

But let’s not forget about the American people, most of whom continue to support Ukraine and provide weapons for defense.

Let’s not forget about the American volunteers who have stood side by side with our soldiers since the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war. Marko Paslavsky, Luke Lucyshyn, Brian Young, Dan Partridge, Trent Davis… dozens of U.S. citizens who died on the frontline for freedom and justice and Ukraine’s independence.

Let’s not forget the American politicians who are no longer with us, who stood firmly on the anti-Russian position and for the closest cooperation with Ukraine: Madeleine Albright, Zbigniew Brzezinski, John McCain, Joe Lieberman..

Let’s not forget how important the assistance of the U.S. National Guard units, in particular those of California (special thanks to our friend General David Baldwin, pictured below), in training Ukrainian soldiers has become and the fact that it is American taxpayers’ money that goes to pay for the work of Ukrainian home front workers.

Let’s not forget that it was the Americans who broke the de facto embargo on the supply of lethal weapons to Ukraine, which even at this moment continue to be used by professional hands to defeat enemies in order to prevent, among other things, a direct Russian attack on US allies in Europe, and thus the United States itself from entering the war.

So there is much to thank the Americans for. There are also huge mistakes that should be pointed out. There are also absolutely inadequate responses to the threat and weak positions of the current American government, which actually “invites” America’s enemy to commit criminal acts.

Ukrainians remember history well. How representatives of our nation helped Americans defend their right to freedom and independence. How our immigrants built America, fought for it, and made it what it is today. And let’s not even mention how many Americans in Congress, the State Department, the Pentagon, and most importantly, the U.S. Army, Navy, and Air Force have Ukrainian roots.

We hope that the United States will remain great. We hope, first of all, for the American people. We hope to establish allied relations with the United States.

Happy Independence Day, American people!
