The Accounting Chamber will check arms purchases for the Armed Forces of Ukraine: what will be covered by the audit

The Accounting Chamber of Ukraine has begun an audit of defense procurement for the Armed Forces of Ukraine to verify the timeliness, legality, and effectiveness of the supply of weapons and military equipment. This was reported by the Accounting Chamber, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
The audit will cover procurement planning, the execution of government contracts, and the Ministry of Defense’s internal control system.
What the auditors will check
As part of the audit, state auditors will check key aspects of providing the army with military equipment and weapons, in particular:
compliance with legislation during the planning of defense procurement;
- the legality of the use of special and exceptional procedures during martial law;
- compliance of government contracts with current legislation;
- actual performance of contracts for the supply of equipment and weapons;
- the effectiveness of internal control by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
Control is exercised by auditors from the Department of Control in the Sphere of Defense, Security, Judiciary, Law Enforcement, and Justice of the Accounting Chamber.
Why auditing defense procurement is critically important
Defense procurement under martial law is carried out according to special procedures and within tight deadlines. This allows the military to be quickly provided with the necessary equipment, but at the same time increases the risks of:
- violations of the law;
- improper pricing;
- concluding contracts in violation of contractual terms;

- guarantee the timely supply of military equipment.
