The regulator revoked XSport’s registration and license: what is the reason?
26 March 15:18
The National Council of Ukraine on Television and Radio Broadcasting has decided to revoke the license of the sports channel XSport and cancel the registration of the channels XSport and XSport.
The decision was made on March 26 at a meeting of the regulator, according to Detector Media, as reported by [Komersant].
The decision was made at the company’s request
According to Oleg Chernysh, deputy chairman of the National Council of Ukraine on Television and Radio Broadcasting, the license and registration were revoked at the company’s own request.
This concerns the broadcaster’s legal entity—Totveld LLC.
The channel will cease broadcasting on April 1
According to the industry publication Mediasat, the TV channels’ partners received letters from the owners stating that broadcasting would cease on April 1.
Among the reasons cited for the closure is the unfavorable economic situation in Ukraine.
What is known about the XSport channel
XSport began broadcasting in 2012.
The channel broadcast:
- hockey;
- basketball;
- boxing;
- soccer matches;
- other sporting events.
The broadcaster operated on digital airwaves in the MX-3 multiplex, operated by Zeonbud.
A second channel launched during the war
The additional channel XSport began broadcasting in 2021.
Both TV channels are owned by Ukrainian businessman Boris Kolesnikov.
Previous decisions by the regulator
Back in May 2025, the National Council of Ukraine on Television and Radio Broadcasting
extended the license of Totveld LLC for 10 years.
And in 2024, the regulator allowed the channel to deviate from the programming concept outlined in the license, giving the broadcaster more flexibility in shaping its content.
Despite this, due to economic conditions, the broadcaster decided to cease operations of the channels.
