                                                                    The Government of Ukraine has approved the decision to add six new categories to the International Register of Losses. From now on, more Ukrainians affected by the war will be able to record the damage and apply for compensation through the Diia app. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the Ministry of Digital Transformation.
“We are expanding the Register of Losses – six new categories will soon appear in Diia. Every day of war means new losses, new pain, new destroyed lives. Therefore, it is important that all victims file claims for damages,” the Ministry of Digital Transformation emphasized.
What categories will appear in Diia?
Soon, Ukrainians will be able to file claims for damages if they have suffered
- forced displacement outside Ukraine;
- forced transfer or deportation of children;
- forced displacement or deportation of adults;
- loss of housing or place of residence;
- loss of paid employment;
- loss of private business.
What is the Register of Losses?
The International Register of Losses is the first component of the Global Compensation Mechanism, which was initiated by the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine in May 2022 together with international partners.
The mechanism consists of three elements: The Register of Losses, the Compensation Commission and the Fund.
Previously, Diia was already able to file claims for the death or disappearance of loved ones, health damage, and destroyed property. Now the list has been significantly expanded.
The Ministry of Digital Transformation will announce separately when the submission of applications for each of the new categories will become available.
