Registration of copyrights and trademarks in Ukraine is a common practice that protects businesses and promotes the development of creative industries. This was stated in an interview with the YouTube channel "Komersant Ukrainian" youTube channel, Lyubov Maydanyk, deputy director of the Ukrainian National Office of Intellectual Property and Innovations (UKRNOVI), said.

According to her, copyright arises automatically and does not require mandatory state registration. However, voluntary registration provides additional protection:

Businesses can apply for voluntary copyright registration, which is carried out by UKRNOVI. In fact, state registration, for example, for a legal entity for a work for hire, costs a little over 500 hryvnias, and these funds go to the state budget,” Maidanyk said.

She also emphasized that national registration helps to avoid the transfer of intellectual property abroad.

“What is developed by Ukrainians for Ukrainians should remain in Ukraine. This is strategically important for business development,” summarized the Deputy Director of UKRNOVI.

As reported by [Kommersant], Ukraine is the sixth largest country in the world in terms of digital piracy.
