The winner of Lviv’s annual “Best Street Cleaner of Lviv” contest has been announced. In 2026, the title went to Hanna Petrychkovych from the Shevchenkivskyi District. She received the most support from the city’s residents and decided to donate her cash prize to support the Ukrainian military.
This was reported by the Lviv City Council, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"
Who became Lviv’s best street cleaner in 2026
According to the results of an open vote by Lviv residents, Hanna Petrychkovych was named the winner of the contest. She received 519 votes, which, as noted by the city council, is a record number of votes in the contest’s history.

Thus, she was named Lviv’s best street cleaner this year.

What prize did the winner receive?
Hanna Petrychkovych received:
- a letter of appreciation from the Lviv community;
- a cash prize of 25,000 hryvnias.
However, she decided not to keep the money for herself.

Where the prize will be donated
The contest winner announced that she is donating her prize to support the 128th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Zakarpattia.
This decision was one of the main reasons for the public outcry surrounding the contest, as the story went beyond local news about municipal services and gained broader public attention.
Who else won in Lviv’s districts
In addition to the grand prize winner, Lviv also selected the best street cleaners in each city district.
The winners were:
- Zaliznychny District — Hanna Zayats
- Sykhiv District — Yaroslav Pryshlyak
- Lychakiv District — Kateryna Buzhdagan
- Halytskyi District — Maria Kavaleets
- Frankivsk District — Vasyl Paliytsia
All of them received letters of appreciation from the community and cash bonuses.

How the best street cleaners in Lviv are chosen
The “Best Janitor of Lviv” contest has been held in the city for the seventh consecutive year.
Winners are traditionally determined through an open vote by residents. In other words, the best street cleaners are chosen by the people of Lviv themselves, who see their work every day in courtyards, on streets, and in residential areas.
Why is this contest held every year
The contest is timed to coincide with Housing and Public Utilities Workers’ Day, which is celebrated in Ukraine every year on the third Sunday in March.
In this way, Lviv publicly recognizes the work of street cleaners and thanks the people who keep the city clean every day.
Why this story caught attention
Hanna Petrychkovych’s story drew attention not only because she won the city contest. Her decision to donate the prize money to the Ukrainian Armed Forces made this news symbolic.
In fact, she combined personal recognition with support for the army, which resonates particularly strongly with Ukrainian society in the context of war.
