Relocation due to war: a tin container plant from Sumy region has started working in Ternopil region
26 September 2025 20:27
The war has forced Ukrainian companies to look for safer regions for production. One of the largest producers of metal packaging, Favor, has moved its facilities from Sumy region to Ternopil region. This was reported by Roman Polikrovsky, head of the Zbarazh community, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
This is part of a broader trend of business relocation from eastern and central Ukraine to the west of the country.
Start of the plant’s operation
On the outskirts of Zbarazh in Ternopil region, a tin container plant, previously located in Sumy region, has started operating. The plant currently employs about 100 people.
Roman Polikrovsky, mayor of the Zbarazh community, said that production has already been launched, and new premises are still being completed.
Relocation process:
The main production facilities of the plant were relocated a year ago. Initially, it was planned to leave some of the equipment in Sumy, but due to the impossibility of working there, it was decided to move almost all production lines to Zbarazh.
It took about eight months from the date of signing the land lease agreement to the actual launch. The company is now in the commissioning mode, and the landscaping and installation of some equipment is nearing completion.
Development prospects
The plant is expected to create 230-250 jobs. The company produces cans and beer cans, food containers for olive oil, buckets for paints and varnishes, and other packaging.
The company’s new plans include expanding production and increasing the number of employees.
Context of the Ukrainian industry
The relocation of the plant to Zbarazh is part of a broader process of relocating production to western Ukraine. Earlier, a canned vegetable production plant was opened in Ternopil region, and a USP Panels sandwich panel production facility was opened in Lviv in the Formatsiya municipal industrial park.
This demonstrates the stable development of industry in the western regions and the creation of new jobs despite the challenges of war.
