Russia is preparing a large-scale offensive against Ukraine this summer with the support of North Korean troops. Pyongyang is going to send up to 6,000 troops to Russia in August.

Reuters writes about this with reference to Seoul’s intelligence, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

In addition to the military, Pyongyang has agreed to provide Russia with sappers and construction workers to work in the border regions.

“North Korea has begun active recruitment of military personnel to be sent to help Russia. In particular, Pyongyang plans to send about 6,000 additional soldiers,” the newspaper notes.

Last week, DPRK leader Kim Jong-un hosted Russian official Sergei Shoigu in Pyongyang. According to South Korean intelligence, the meeting discussed the deployment of about 1,000 sappers and another 5,000 military construction workers.

As a reminder, ISW analysts wrote that the deployment of North Korean troops on Ukrainian territory, as warned by South Korean intelligence, would provoke a significant turnaround on the battlefield, which could improve the offensive capabilities of Russian troops.
