Russia may be preparing a new massive attack on the Ukrainian energy sector – Zaichenko
26 December 14:18
It is very difficult to predict the situation with power outages now, as the Russian occupiers are preparing for a new attack. Russian terrorist attacks against the power system occur at intervals of 10 days on average.
According to RBC-Ukraine, this was stated by Vitaliy Zaichenko, the head of the board of Ukrenergo, during a telethon, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
“It is very difficult to predict anything now, because we understand that the enemy is preparing for another attack. It always happens, we have been seeing it since the beginning of the fall, that every 10 days, give or take, there is an attack on the power system, and it is a massive one,” he said.
According to Zaichenko, it is difficult to balance the power system after each attack. Therefore, due to the Russian terrorist attacks, emergency shutdown schedules have to be applied.
“At the moment, there are no such schedules, there are limited power schedules for industry and hourly outage schedules. Unfortunately, they are quite different throughout Ukraine, ranging from one to three and a half queues,” he added.
At the same time, Zaichenko said that as of the morning of December 26, the situation in Ukraine’s power system is gradually improving, despite Russia’s constant attacks on energy infrastructure. Therefore, the situation with electricity may improve.
As of December 26, Ukraine still has hourly power outage schedules for households. The power is being cut off in most regions of Ukraine today.
As explained by the State Energy Supervision Service on December 25, the schedules of power outages in Ukraine are not due to a lack of generation, which remains at a fairly high level despite the Russian terrorist attacks. The schedules were introduced because of the significant damage to the networks after the Russian strikes.
