Russia launched a ballistic missile strike on Kharkiv: a baby is among the five injured

3 April 10:51

On the night of April 3, Russian forces launched strikes on Kharkiv, including ballistic missile attacks. According to the Kharkiv Regional Police, five people were injured in the city as a result of the nighttime attacks, including an infant born in 2026. This was reported by Mayor Ihor Terekhov, as reported by "Komersant Ukrainian"

The strikes hit the Osnovyansky, Kyivsky, and Shevchenkivsky districts of the city.

Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov was the first to report the attack. He stated that the enemy had launched three strikes with ballistic weapons on the Kyivskyi district of Kharkiv. Meanwhile, Oleg Synyegubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, later clarified that four enemy missile strikes had been recorded in the Kyivskyi district.

What is known about the casualties in Kharkiv

As of this morning, police reported five casualties. In the Osnovyanskyi district, a 70-year-old security guard was wounded.

In the Kyivskyi district, a 27-year-old woman and her son, born in 2026, suffered acute stress reactions. Following the morning missile strikes, a 63-year-old woman, who was hospitalized, and an 18-year-old Kharkiv resident, who was diagnosed with an acute stress reaction, were also injured.

It is precisely because of these clarifications that the reports from the authorities and police contain different wording: initially, there was mention of a single injured 63-year-old woman, but later law enforcement officials tallied the total number of victims across three districts of the city.

Which districts of Kharkiv were hit

According to police, Russian strikes hit three districts of Kharkiv overnight. An office building was damaged in the Osnovyanskyi district.

In the Kyivskyi district, a private residence was damaged, and in the early morning, a missile strike also shattered windows in apartment buildings.

In the Shevchenkivskyi district, a strike was recorded near the central park.

Thus, the attack was not targeted but affected various parts of the city.

Why Kharkiv Is Once Again Under Particular Threat

Kharkiv remains one of Ukraine’s most vulnerable cities due to its proximity to the border with Russia and the short flight time of missiles and drones. This means that the nighttime attack on April 3 was not an isolated incident but rather a continuation of constant pressure on the city.
