On February 21, Russia launched a missile strike on a civilian manufacturing facility owned by the American company Mondelez in the city of Trostyanets in the Sumy region.
This was reported by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
“Russia has struck another American business in Ukraine — a civilian manufacturing facility owned by Mondelez in Trostyanets — one of the first major US investments in Ukraine’s independent economy,” he said.
The missile hit one of the production buildings, but there were no casualties.
According to the foreign minister, the facility is not a military target: the company has been operating since the 1990s, produces well-known brands, provides jobs for Ukrainians, and is one of the earliest major US investments in the Ukrainian economy.
Sibiga stressed that, in his opinion, such strikes not only hurt Ukraine but also American business interests in Europe, and called the attacks on peaceful industry “targeted economic terrorism.”
Reuters also notes that this is not the first time this enterprise has been hit since the start of the full-scale war.
