Russian Federation attacks critical infrastructure in southern regions at night: there are hits

On the night of 8 April, Russia carried out another terrorist attack on Ukraine. The occupation forces sent several waves of Shahed-131/136 strike UAVs to the southern regions. This was reported by the Defence Forces of southern Ukraine, Komersant ukrainskyi https://www.komersant.info/ reports.

“The enemy targeted critical infrastructure. The intense combat work of the Air Defence Forces lasted about 3 hours. In the operational area of the Southern Defence Forces, they managed to effectively work out 7 barrage shells: 4 were shot down in Odesa region, 2 in Mykolaiv region and 1 in Kirovohrad region,”

– said the Southern Defence Forces.

Unfortunately, there were hits in the Odesa region. A logistics and transport facility was damaged. The consequences are being clarified.

A petrol station was also damaged by the falling wreckage of the downed drone. No people were injured.

Ukraine’s Air Defence Forces destroyed 17 attack UAVs and an X-59 guided missile overnight, the Ukrainian Air Force reports.

“On the night of 8 April 2024, the enemy struck with an X-59 guided missile from the airspace of the occupied Zaporizhzhia region and 24 Shahed-131/136 attack UAVs from Cape Chauda – Crimea, Kursk and Yeysk districts – Russia,” the statement said,

As a result of the air battle, the Ukrainian Defence Forces shot down an X-59 guided missile in Dnipro region and 17 Shaheds in Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kirovohrad, Khmelnytsky and Zhytomyr regions.

Aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, mobile fire groups and electronic warfare equipment were involved in repelling the air attack, the Air Force added.

It should be noted that on 7 April, Russia shelled Kharkiv. One of the city’s central districts came under fire. The Russian attack began at 11:47 a.m. and as of 1 p.m., 4 arrivals in the city were recorded. One of the missiles hit a private house. Three women and a man were injured in the attack.
