The rescue operation in Kyiv is over: Interior Ministry announces the number of victims

The search and rescue operation in the Solomyansky district of Kyiv lasted more than 39 hours and ended this evening. The bodies of 23 victims were removed from the rubble. This is reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the statement of the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko.
“The search and rescue operation in the Solomyansky district of Kyiv lasted more than 39 hours. on June 18, at 19:20, rescuers completed the search operations. The disassembly of the structures continues,” the minister emphasized.
According to Klymenko, the bodies of 23 people have been recovered from the rubble at this location alone. In total, the minister said, 28 people died in the capital as a result of the Russian shelling on June 17, and more than 140 others were injured.
The Interior Minister said that more than 400 rescuers and more than 200 pieces of equipment were involved in the aftermath. They also worked with
- specialized rescue and engineering equipment,
- drones
- and search dogs.
It is also known that the SES rescued 2 people from the rubble, and about 50 more were unblocked from apartments and entrances.
Groups of psychologists worked at the site, providing emergency psychological assistance to more than 220 people.
“We used all our resources to save lives. Also, more than 300 law enforcement officers were ensuring law and order at the location around the clock. And they will continue to do so as long as there is a need. We continue to receive applications from victims – we have already received almost 500 reports of property damage. All data is recorded carefully,” the Minister emphasized.
