Portnov’s family bought apartments in Dubai for more than 2 million dollars – investigation of “Schemes”

In 2022-2023, the family of Andriy Portnov, former deputy head of Yanukovych’s administration, purchased six apartments in Dubai for a total of more than two million dollars.
This was reported by journalists of the Schemes program (a project of Radio Liberty) based on the results of an analysis of data leaks in cooperation with the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) and the French edition of Le Monde, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
The apartments are registered in the names of Portnov’s common-law wife, Anastasia Valyayeva, and his daughter, Lilia Portnova. The family currently owns five of the apartments.
The first apartment of almost 69 m² was purchased by Lilia in October 2022 for about $320 thousand in the Sobha Hartland One Park Avenue residential complex.
Since the summer of 2023, Portnov’s common-law wife and daughter have been actively buying real estate in the UAE. In particular, in July, the daughter bought a 46.5 m² apartment from the same developer, but later sold it.
In August, Valiayeva invested in an apartment of almost 110 m² in the Sobha Hartland Waves Opulence complex worth more than $600 thousand.
In September, Lilia Portnova bought an apartment for over $400 thousand in the same complex, and Valiayeva became the owner of a 90 m² apartment for over $550 thousand.
In October 2023, Lilia bought a 34 m² apartment in the Empire Residence for over $132 thousand.
Despite owning her own real estate, in November 2023, Lilia rented an apartment in District One Residences 18 for almost $36 thousand a year.
The journalists also found out that Lilia Portnova has Swiss citizenship. At the same time, there is no information about her business activities and current business projects of Anastasia Valiayeva. Until 2020, Valiayeva was the owner of Vasilisa Group, which was previously known as Portnov Group and belonged to Andriy Portnov.
The murder of Andriy Portnov
Former Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Viktor Yanukovych, Andriy Portnov, was found shot dead in Madrid on May 21.
According to Spanish media, the attack took place at around 9:15 am, when Portnov was driving his children to the American School. Nine bullet casings were found at the crime scene.
According to preliminary information, the attack was carried out by a group of people – one shooter and accomplices. Police are considering several versions, including a political motive and financial debts.
The investigation in Spain is being conducted in secret. According to media reports, Portnov’s body is to be returned to Ukraine for burial
