Roman Grybov, who was considered the author of the legendary phrase about the Russian ship, resigned from the Armed Forces of Ukraine
1 July 14:48
Marine Roman Grybov, known for the phrase “Russian warship, go f*ck yourself”, which Ukrainian defenders used to respond to the ultimatum of the Russian cruiser Moscow, has announced his dismissal from the army.
He wrote about it on his Facebook page, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
According to Grybov, the decision to leave the Armed Forces of Ukraine was not his wish, but he was forced to take this step due to circumstances:
“From 2018 until now, I have been really faithful at all times. But there is always a “but”… I will tell you about it carefully later.”
The soldier urged Ukrainians not to succumb to internal provocations and to remember that there is only one real enemy, and it is external:
“Ignore the attempts of those who want to break you from the inside. Ukraine has only one enemy, and no one but us will be able to contain it.”
Grybov also noted that he remains open to society and is ready to help his fellow soldiers and anyone who needs support:
“Now I am free and open to everyone 24/7. If I can be useful, I will be.”
What is known about the phrase and Grybov
The phrase “Russian warship, go f*ck yourself” was used in February 2022 on Zmeinyi Island in response to threats from the captain of the Russian cruiser Moskva. It quickly became a symbol of resistance, inspiring memes, songs, stamps, and graphics. In April of the same year, the Moscow cruiser was destroyed by Ukrainian forces.
Although the phrase was long associated with Roman Grybov, the Ukrainian Border Guard Service later clarified that the real author was one of the border guards who was also held captive. His name was not disclosed for security reasons.
