Russia attacked the energy sector on Christmas Eve: blackouts were recorded in 5 regions

On the night of December 25, Christmas Eve, Russia continued its attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. The strikes resulted in power outages in a number of regions. This was reported by the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"
Where power outages were recorded
According to official information, power outages have been reported in:
- Chernihiv region
- Sumy region
- Dnipropetrovs’k region
- Kharkiv region
- Odesa region
The Ministry of Energy clarified that the blackouts in Odesa region are related to the consequences of previous shelling that damaged the region’s energy facilities.
Blackout schedules are in effect throughout the country
The agency emphasized that on December 25, hourly outage schedules and power limitation schedules for business and industrial consumers are applied in all regions of Ukraine.
“Power engineers are working in an emergency mode to repair damaged equipment and restore power to all consumers as soon as possible. Emergency repair works continue around the clock,” the Ministry of Energy said.

Residents of the regions are urged to follow the updates on the official resources of distribution system operators (oblenergos), where the exact hours and sequence of outages are published.
Context: attacks on Odesa region
Earlier, the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper, reported that Russian troops had struck at the energy, port, transport, industrial, and residential infrastructure of Odesa region. The attacks caused numerous damages, which led to power outages.
The authorities are urging Ukrainians to conserve electricity, follow safety rules and not ignore air raid warnings.
