Russia attacked Kryvyi Rih: the consequences have been revealed

14 January 04:47

On the night of January 14, Kryvyi Rih was hit by a massive attack by Russian kamikaze drones on energy infrastructure facilities. As a result of the strike, large-scale emergency power and heat outages were introduced in the city. The consequences of the attack were reported by the head of the Kryvyi Rih Defense Council, Oleksandr Vilkul, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

Massive power and heat outages

According to him, due to damage to energy facilities, more than 45,000 subscribers were temporarily left without electricity. In addition, more than 700 residential buildings were disconnected from heat — several boiler rooms stopped working.

“Emergency shutdowns of more than 45,000 subscribers from power supply and more than 700 houses from heat supply. Small boiler rooms have already switched to generators, but there are no 6 kV generators in nature,” Vilkul said.

Water is available, but at reduced pressure

The city water utility’s pumping stations have switched to backup power. Water is still available in the system, but the pressure in the network has been reduced, so residents are asked to use the resource sparingly.

Also, due to the consequences of the strike, the high-speed tram will not be operating in the morning.

Cleanup continues

A headquarters has already been set up in the city to deal with the aftermath of the attack. Utility services, energy and heating companies are working around the clock, despite the frost and difficult conditions.

“The headquarters for dealing with the aftermath is already up and running. I would like to thank the energy, heating, and utility workers for their hard work,” Vilkul emphasized.

What is known about the attack

Around midnight, Russian troops carried out a massive attack with “Shahed” drones on an infrastructure facility. Subsequently, there were repeated explosions in the city. According to preliminary information, there are no casualties, but the damage to the energy system is significant.

The city authorities urged residents to stock up on water and charge their gadgets, warning that recovery may not be easy.

This is the second massive attack on Kryvyi Rih in a few days — the previous strike on the city took place on the night of January 10. Russia is systematically striking energy infrastructure in an attempt to leave Ukrainian cities without light and heat during the winter.
