Russia attacked Odesa: high-rise buildings and residential buildings were damaged

On the night of March 18–19, Russian forces launched a massive drone attack on Odesa. The strikes caused damage to residential buildings, high-rises, and civilian infrastructure. This was reported by Serhiy Lysak, head of the Odesa Military Administration, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"

What damage was reported after the attack

According to preliminary data, as a result of the attack:

  • at least two high-rise buildings were damaged
  • a residential building in the historic part of the city was damaged
  • buildings in the private sector were damaged
  • damage to non-residential structures was reported

Fires also broke out, which were quickly extinguished by rescue workers.

Are there any casualties?

According to local authorities, at least three people were injured. Two of the injured were hospitalized.

Information regarding the consequences of the attack is being clarified.

How the air defense system performed

Prior to the attack, the Ukrainian Air Force reported the movement of over 20 Russian drones toward Odesa. Air defense forces engaged the targets.

Currently on the scene are:

  • rescue workers
  • medical personnel
  • utility services
  • law enforcement

Cleanup efforts are ongoing.

Other Russian attacks

In addition to Odesa, Russian attacks have been reported in other regions of Ukraine.

Specifically:

  • in Lviv, a drone damaged the SBU headquarters building
  • near Novovolynsk, an energy facility was hit
  • in some areas, there were disruptions to electricity and water supply

The situation remains tense

Ukrainians are urged not to ignore air raid sirens and to take shelter during the threat of attacks.

Authorities emphasize that information on the consequences of the strikes is being constantly updated.
