russia attacked Ukraine with modernized Shahed-136s: why they are dangerous

The Russian military has begun using Shahed-136 drones with thermobaric warheads to strike Ukraine. This is reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to areport by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
With the help of a special examination, it was possible to prove that Russia began using modified drones equipped with thermobaric warheads in Ukraine. These are the UAVs used by the aggressor during the attacks of October 26-29.
This data is indirectly confirmed by the fact that recently the company “Roselectronics” (a subsidiary of the Russian state defense conglomerate “Rostec” – ed.) announced that it had developed a radio-absorbing coating for Russian thermobaric artillery systems TOS-1A, which will make the system “invisible” to modern guidance systems and thermal imagers.
It should be noted that this is not the first time Russia has used thermobaric weapons in Ukraine. For example, in early March 2022, the enemy used the TOS-1A weapon system. It uses thermobaric missiles that create incendiary and high-explosive effects.” The Russian military calls these units “heavy flamethrowers” that can fire missiles at a distance of up to 9 km.
Thermobaric munitions are used for a variety of purposes and come in different sizes, including individual weapons such as grenades and hand-held rocket launchers. Thermobaric weapons are more destructive than conventional explosives of similar size and affect anyone within their range.
