Russian state media reported that the Russian army had captured the village of Andriivka in Donetsk region, which has been the subject of heavy fighting in recent weeks.
As previously reported, Ukrainian troops have long been semi-encircled in the area of Andriivka, and the town is partially controlled by the Russians. The difficult situation and partial Russian control is also evidenced by the map from DeepStateMAP. However, there has been no talk of a full occupation of Andriivka by Russians so far.
"Komersant Ukrainian" asked military expert Oleg Zhdanov what the situation in this area is really like. According to him, it is not worth talking about the capture of the settlement by Russians at the moment.
“There is a possibility, but, according to my channels, there is no such information yet,”
– zhdanov said.
The expert clarifies that the combat activity in this area is very high, so the operational situation can change quite quickly.

“Combat activity in the last three days has been at a constant high level here. It is quite possible that they [the Russians] could have conducted some kind of operation related to the seizure of territory. And have some partial success in Andriivka,”
– he emphasizes.
Andriyivka is located south of Pokrovsk, and the Russians cannot have any success in the Pokrovsk sector right now, as they are accumulating forces and regrouping here, says Zhdanov. War is an unpredictable thing, and the situation on the ground can change rapidly, the expert emphasizes, but it is too early to talk about the capture of Andriivka by the Russians.
The General Staff confirms the information that Andriyivka remains with us. A March 6 statement from the Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff refers to Russian attacks in the Pokrovske sector, including in the area of Andriivka, but reports that all of them were stopped.
“In the Pokrovsk sector, our defenders stopped 18 offensive actions of the aggressor in the areas of Yelizavetivka, Promin, Pishchane, Kotlyne, Kotlyarivka, Serhiivka, Bohdanivka and Andriivka,”
– reads the General Staff’s report.
A total of 109 combat engagements were registered over the past day, the General Staff said. The Russians launched three missile attacks using four missiles and 85 air strikes at the positions of Ukrainian units and settlements. In addition, the enemy conducted more than four thousand attacks (144 of them from multiple launch rocket systems) and used 2,547 kamikaze drones to attack.
In total, the losses of the Russian invaders amounted to 1140 people yesterday. Ukrainian troops also neutralized 5 tanks, 7 armored combat vehicles, 21 artillery systems, 2 air defense systems, 80 operational and tactical UAVs, and 94 occupant vehicles.
