Russia deliberately attacked the Intercity park in Kyiv: “Ukrzaliznytsia” showed the destroyed cars
28 August 20:47
On the night of August 28, Russian troops launched a combined attack on Kyiv and targeted the Intercity high-speed train depot . One of the trains, a Hyundai Rotem HRCS2, was directly hit by a drone and sustained serious damage.
Photos of the aftermath of the attack were published byUkrzaliznytsiaand international agencies, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
The pictures show the burnt-out interior of the car: charred seats, destroyed lining and metal structures that turned the car into a wreck.

“It was a targeted attack exclusively on civilian transport. The train was supposed to run on the Kyiv-Kharkiv route today. Not a single flight was canceled: passenger cars were replaced, including those just received from the factory. The key thing is that lives were saved, all on-duty personnel were taken to shelters,” said Oleksandr Pertsovsky, Chairman of the Board of Ukrzaliznytsia.
The railroad promptly restored the operation of the junction infrastructure in Koziatyn, which was also affected by the attack. Trains are mostly running on schedule, although delays in some flights remain.
At least 10 people were killed and more than 40 wounded in the massive attack on Kyiv.
Previous Russian attacks on Intercity
This is not the first time Russia has attacked Ukrainian rail transport:
- December 2023 – a strike on Dnipro damaged rolling stock and infrastructure.
- April 2024 – Russians attacked a depot in Kharkiv, putting several passenger cars out of commission.
- February 2025 – during the shelling of Kryvyi Rih, missile fragments hit the Intercity repair base, and part of the train needed to be overhauled.
“Ukrzaliznytsia has repeatedly emphasized that Russian strikes are aimed exclusively at civilian infrastructure and have no military meaning, as passenger trains carrying thousands of people every day are damaged.
