russia and its allies have sold almost a billion dollars of grain stolen from the occupied territories of Ukraine. This is what was written by The Wall Street Journal, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
The “business” involves firms associated with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Crimean businessman Hanaga, as well as companies trading with Syria, Israel and the UAE.
Russia used to ship grain to Turkey from Mariupol, but now official Istanbul is blocking illegal trade from the occupied terminals. Grain traders are selling stolen grain on international markets to help Russia cope with the sanctions.
According to media reports, the amount of sales is about $800 million, and the total value of the stolen grain could reach $6.4 billion. Foreign vessels are involved in this “business”, and the Russian state-owned United Shipbuilding Corporation owns the vessels that were also used to shell Ukraine.
Crimean grain is exported to the markets of Yemen and Iran, while Egypt, Israel and Lebanon have stopped buying grain because of its illegal origin.
