Russia struck with KABs near Sumy: part of the city without water and electricity

18 January 02:06

On Saturday evening, January 17, Russians attacked the suburbs of Sumy with aerial bombs. The shelling damaged houses and caused power and water outages in the regional center itself.

This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing a Telegram post by Serhiy Kryvosheyko, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, and the Sumy City Council channel.

“The loud explosions heard by Sumy residents were caused by guided aerial bombs striking the suburbs. Residential buildings, farm buildings, and cars were damaged. Two people were reportedly injured,” the report said.

Kryvosheyko also added that the enemy strike has disrupted the city’s power supply. At the same time, the city council reported that due to power outages, one of Sumy’s water intakes had been de-energized since 8:30 p.m.

“As a result, residents of the area around Serhiy Borodaievskyi, Romenska, Hrytsyk Kondratiev, Lykhvyna Stinka, Petropavlivska, Sumska Artbrigada, Yaroslav Mudryi, and adjacent streets,” the authorities explained, citing the Vodokanal utility company.

Energy companies are currently working to resolve the issue. However, the city council has warned that if the power supply issue cannot be resolved quickly, then tomorrow, January 18, water will be supplied to residents in the above-mentioned areas according to a schedule with reduced pressure from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

Once the situation stabilizes, water supply will be provided as usual.

“Medical and other life support facilities are operating as usual or using backup solutions,” added the head of the MBA.

We remind you that Russia regularly attacks the city of Sumy and the region with drones, missiles, and aerial bombs.
