The Russian occupation forces launched a large-scale attack on Ukraine, using missiles and strike drones. The main targets were energy infrastructure facilities, residential buildings, and civilian structures, including a historic church in Lviv. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported this in his evening address, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"

How many drones were shot down by air defense

According to the head of state, Ukrainian air defense forces were able to destroy a significant number of enemy targets.

“Although we managed to shoot down most of the drones—definitely over 500—unfortunately, there were still some hits,” Zelenskyy said.

Despite the effective work of air defense, strikes were recorded in a number of regions of Ukraine.

Which regions were affected

According to the president, the consequences of the attacks were recorded in:

  • Lviv Oblast
  • Ivano-Frankivsk region
  • Ternopil region
  • Vinnytsia region
  • Zhytomyr Oblast
  • Khmelnytskyi Oblast
  • Rivne Oblast
  • Kharkiv Oblast
  • Dnipropetrovsk Oblast

The attacks have resulted in deaths and injuries among the civilian population.

“Unfortunately, there have been fatalities. My condolences to the families and loved ones,” the president said.

How many people were affected

According to preliminary data, more than 40 people were injured as a result of the massive shelling.

Five children are among the wounded. All victims are receiving medical care.

A historic church was damaged in Lviv

The president also reported that historical sites in Lviv were damaged during the attack.

In particular, the strike caused a fire in the buildings of St. Andrew’s Church, whose history dates back to the 17th century.

“Iranian ‘shahids,’ modernized by Russia, are striking a church in Lviv—this is an absolute perversion,” Zelenskyy emphasized.

What other sites were attacked

In addition to energy infrastructure, Russian troops also attacked civilian sites.

Specifically:

  • residential buildings
  • historic buildings
  • a maternity hospital in Ivano-Frankivsk
  • energy facilities.

What does this attack mean

According to the president, the scale of the shelling indicates that Russia does not plan to end the war anytime soon.

Zelenskyy emphasized that further international pressure on Russia is necessary to stop the aggression.
