Russia strikes Kyiv and Kharkiv with drones at night: there are fires and casualties

On the night of Saturday, April 12, Russian occupation forces attacked Ukraine with Shahed-type attack drones. The capital and Kharkiv came under attack, with damage and casualties reported. [ Komersant, citing local authorities, reports what is known so far about the consequences of the attacks.
Russian attack on Kyiv
The shelling of the capital was carried out at 04:30 am. Explosions were heard in different areas – air defense was working.
“As of 05:00, as a result of an enemy attack and the fall of the wreckage of downed UAVs, fires were recorded in Sviatoshynskyi and Darnytskyi districts of Kyiv. A private house and a non-residential building were damaged. Rescuers are working at the scene,” KCMA said.
According to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, two people have been reported injured in the Sviatoshynskyi district. There was a fire in non-residential premises.
“There are already two victims in Sviatoshynskyi district. Doctors are providing assistance,” Klitschko wrote.
In Darnytsia district, where the wreckage of the UAV fell, a private house was destroyed. There are no casualties.

Russian attack on Kharkiv
According to Mayor Igor Terekhov, three UAV strikes were carried out on the city, two of them in the Nemyshlyansky district.
“We have three strikes on Kharkiv by Shahed UAVs, two of them in Nemyshlyansky district,” Terekhov wrote.
Igor Terekhov reported about one victim of drone attacks in Kharkiv. Preliminary, his condition is light.

The day before, the Ministry of Internal Affairs warned Ukrainians about a new danger: Russian occupiers began using drones to scatter explosive objects.
According to law enforcement officials, they can be used by the enemy to hit any of the country’s regions, and “the risk is extremely high because the time of explosion of such munitions is unknown.”
