Russia fired missiles at Ukraine at night: what we know

Last night, Russians launched another air attack on peaceful cities in Ukraine. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the Ukrainian Air Force.
On the night of 8 July, Russia attacked Ukraine with air- and ground-launched missiles.
“At night, the enemy attacked Ukraine with air- and ground-based missiles: 4 X-101s from Tu-95MS strategic aircraft (launch area – airspace of Saratov region) and two Iskander-M ballistic missiles (launch areas – Kursk region – Crimea),”
– the statement said.
As a result of combat operations, air defence destroyed 3 X-101 cruise missiles in Zhytomyr and Cherkasy regions.
It should be noted that social media reported that explosions were heard in Zhytomyr region.
The situation in Kharkiv was also restless. The mayor of the city, Igor Terekhov, said that as a result of Russian shelling last night, several private houses were damaged in the city’s Osnovyansky district and a fire broke out. In addition, two people were injured in the attack.
“At night, the Osnovianskyi district of the city came under enemy fire. Three private houses were damaged, and one of them caught fire. Two women were injured, both hospitalised,”
– the mayor said.
The head of the Kharkiv regional military administration, Oleh Syniehubov, said that the women who were injured were 50 and 75 years old.
In addition, the official said, the fire in the city’s Osnovyansky district in a private house was caused by the fall of ammunition fragments.
It is noted that cars and outbuildings were also damaged.
During a night-time alert, air defence forces destroyed a Russian missile in the sky over Cherkasy region. The head of the Cherkasy Regional Air Defence Command, Ihor Taburets, said there were no injuries as a result of the missile’s downing:
“During a night-time alert, our air defence forces destroyed an enemy missile in our sky. There were no casualties and no damage to infrastructure.”
An explosion was also reported in Sumy region at night. The consequences of the attack are being clarified, the JMA said. As of 8am, details are unknown.
