Russia strikes Druzhba oil pipeline in Lviv region for first time – media

Russian troops struck an infrastructure facility in the town of Brody, Lviv region, with a drone. This was reported by the Lviv Regional Military Administration on January 27. According to the specialized publication enkorr, the Russians hit a facility connected to the Druzhba oil pipeline.

The emergency situation resulted in smoke due to the ignition of petroleum products, specified the head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, Maksym Kozytskyi.

The Brody City Council also reported the fire at the facility. After the attack, schools in the city were closed, and residents were urged to stay at home and avoid going outside if possible. Kindergartens are operating with tightly closed windows and doors. Similar recommendations have been given to city residents.

Enkorr emphasized that the facility is connected to the Druzhba oil pipeline. Previously, there had been no recorded attacks on the Druzhba oil pipeline infrastructure in Ukraine.

Naftogaz immediately stopped technological processes at the facility, and State Emergency Service rescuers are working on site. This is the 15th targeted attack on the critical infrastructure of the Naftogaz Group this month alone, Serhiy Koretsky, chairman of the board of Naftogaz of Ukraine, said on Facebook.

“For safety reasons, to protect people and prevent environmental pollution, the company’s specialists immediately stopped technological processes at the facility. Rescuers from the State Emergency Service are working at the site,” said Serhiy Koretsky, chairman of the company’s board.

It should be noted that this morning, Russians struck an infrastructure facility in Brody, Lviv region, with drones. As a result of the attack, petroleum products caught fire, causing thick smoke to spread over the city and a strong odor to be felt.

Local authorities urged residents to close their windows and doors and limit movement on the streets.

After the attack, a meeting of the TEB and NS commission was held in the city. As a result, it was decided to suspend the educational process in schools on January 27-28 and transfer educational institutions to distance learning. There are also plans to create emergency groups in kindergartens.

In addition, in the village of Smilne, which is part of the Brody community, specialists from the Lviv Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention recorded a temporary excess of carbon monoxide in the air.
