Five nuclear power units in Ukraine have reduced their capacity due to a missile attack by Russia on December 13. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the IAEA’s post on social network X.

According to preliminary data, the Russian Armed Forces fired 93 missiles at Ukraine on December 13. At least one of them was manufactured in North Korea. The Ukrainian military managed to shoot down 81 missiles. Of these, 11 were destroyed by F-16 fighters. The Russians also used almost 200 drones in this attack.

“Today, 5 of the 9 operating nuclear reactors in Ukraine have reduced their power due to the Russian missile attack on the energy infrastructure,” the statement said.

At the same time, the agency did not specify how much Ukrainian nuclear power plants reduced their generation capacity.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak criticized Energoatom on his Telegram channel for inadequate preparation for defense against missile attacks.

“Energoatom started the first procurement of protective structures for nuclear infrastructure only this spring (and mostly in the fall). Most of them are even now at the project stage and are not ready at all,” Zheleznyak wrote.

It should be noted that according to preliminary data, the Russian Armed Forces fired 93 missiles at Ukraine on December 13. In particular, there was at least one North Korean missile. We managed to shoot down 81 missiles, including 11 cruise missiles shot down by our F-16s. The Russians also used almost 200 drones in this attack.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has already called this attack one of the largest strikes on the country’s energy sector.
