Russia is left without Turkish tangerines: exports have fallen sharply
2 December 2024 15:28
In the period from January to October, Turkey reduced the supply of tangerines to Russia by 20% to 161.3 thousand tons. At the same time, last year, Russia imported a little more than 202 thousand tons. This was reported by Russian media with reference to the Turkish Statistical Service, "Komersant Ukrainian" informs
It is noted that from June to September there were no supplies of Turkish tangerines at all. They resumed only in October, but the volume was 29% lower than last year and amounted to 35.2 thousand tons.
Thus, the cost of tangerines imported from Turkey amounted to $97.6 mln, which is 22% less than in 2023.

It should be noted that tangerines are imported to Russia from Turkey, Iran, Georgia, as well as from China, Abkhazia, Egypt and Morocco.
Earlier, the Mash telegram channel wrote that the cost of tangerines in Russia would increase by 1.5 times in December due to logistical difficulties in the supplying countries. Wholesalers bring tangerines from Turkey, Iran, Georgia, China, Abkhazia, Egypt and Morocco. This year, many suppliers preferred to ship fruit to Europe, hence the supply disruptions.
The reasons also include a decrease in the harvest due to unfavorable weather conditions in Turkey and the weakening of the ruble.
In addition, analysts took into account that the situation was also negatively affected by the flood in Spain, which destroyed part of the crop on the plantations. Spain is the largest supplier of tangerines to European countries.
Due to a combination of factors, prices, which have already increased by 15-20% compared to last year, will rise by at least 20% or even one and a half times. The final price will also depend on the ruble exchange rate, which continues to decline.
In December, experts predict that the price tag will rise again by at least 50 rubles.
