As of January 2024, the amount of direct damage caused by Russia to Ukrainian infrastructure reached $155 billion. This figure was announced at the Kyiv School of Economics as part of the Russia Will Pay project, according to ![]()
The housing stock suffered the most from Russian aggression. Russia destroyed and damaged residential buildings worth $58.9 billion.
The second place goes to infrastructure, which suffered $36.8 billion in damage. The KSE did not specify, but it can be assumed that this refers to transport infrastructure.
Losses to industry and businesses totalled $13.1bn.
“According to the latest data, 78 small, medium and large private enterprises, as well as 348 state-owned enterprises, were destroyed or damaged,”
– kSE reports.
Losses in the energy sector amounted to $9 billion, in the agriculture sector – $8.7 billion, in the housing and utilities sector – $4.5 billion, and in the healthcare sector – $3.1 billion.
In early January 2024, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal reported that Ukraine’s total losses from the war now exceed $700 billion.
