Russia has attacked the energy system again: emergency blackouts have been introduced

Today, on December 23, Russia is once again attacking Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, resulting in emergency power outages in a number of regions. This was reported by the Ministry of Energy, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

The ministry noted that restoration work will begin as soon as the security situation improves. Rescuers and power engineers will work to eliminate the consequences of the strikes in order to restore power supply as soon as possible.

At the same time, Ukrenergo clarified that the emergency blackouts were introduced due to a massive missile and drone attack on energy infrastructure facilities. The restrictions will remain in place until the situation in the power system stabilizes.

Power engineers urge citizens to follow the official announcements of distribution system operators (oblenergos) in their regions to get the latest information on outages and power supply restoration.

“We urge everyone to remain calm and follow the official information,” the Ministry emphasized.

It should be noted that last night and in the morning the Russian army launched another combined attack on Ukraine. The enemy used attack drones and missiles.

Against this backdrop, explosions were heard in Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr and Rivne regions, as well as in Odesa and Cherkasy, where, according to Cherkasyoblenergo, emergency power outages were introduced. The same was done in Kyiv and Kyiv region, DTEK warned.
