Russia strikes again at the energy sector – emergency blackouts in regions

During the morning massive attack on November 19, Russia again targeted Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. Due to damage to facilities, emergency power outages were introduced in several regions. This was reported by the Ministry of Energy, according to [Kommersant]

According to the Ministry of Energy, the power grid has suffered further damage, and the level of load on the grid has forced operators to immediately apply emergency schedules to keep the system from further failures.

“As soon as the security situation allows, rescuers and power engineers will start eliminating the consequences of the attack to restore power supply in the regions as soon as possible. Emergency blackouts will be canceled after the situation in the power system stabilizes,” the statement said.

According to preliminary information, the attacks were recorded in several regions overnight.

There is evidence of damage to infrastructure in Ternopil, as well as reports of explosions in Lviv, according to the Lviv and Ternopil Regional Military Command.

Attack on Lviv

Several groups of attack drones were seen flying towards the city from the south and east. At 06:40, local residents and authorities reported explosions in the city.

“Residents of Lviv region, please do not post any photos, videos, addresses. Keep information silence. The threat remains,” the OVA said.

Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi urged people not to ignore the alarm and stay in shelters.

Attack on Ternopil

The media reported on the explosions in Ternopil. The authorities ask the locals to stay in shelters as well. Shortly before that, the Air Force warned of drones flying towards the region from the north.

“Please stay in the shelters until the alert is over. Do not post photos and videos,” Ternopil Mayor Serhiy Nadal wrote.

The Ternopil Regional Military Administration also warns of a missile threat to the region. According to the Air Force, the missiles were spotted in the south of Ternopil region, heading west.

As reported by [Kommersant] 32 people, including two children , were injured in a nighttime UAV strike in Kharkiv. Slobodsky, Osnovyansky and Nemyshlyansky districts of the city were hit.

Ukrainian authorities are working to restore power supply and assess the extent of the damage.
