Russia strikes energy facility in Volyn again: what is known about the consequences

On the night of Monday, February 9, Russian troops launched another attack on an energy infrastructure facility near Novovolynsk. This was reported by the city’s mayor, Boris Karpus, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

According to him, the attack caused problems with water supply and the operation of heating facilities in the city.

What is known about the attack on the energy facility near Novovolynsk

The mayor noted that some boiler rooms have also been switched to backup power.

“At night, Russia launched a second strike on an energy facility near the Novovolynsk community. Currently, water in the city is supplied from the power grid, and sewage treatment plants are operating on generators, as are some boiler rooms. The boilers are being fired up, and there is fuel,” Boris Karpus said.

According to him, all responsible services are already working to eliminate the consequences of the attack, and the situation is under control.

Educational institutions and public utilities

Due to the consequences of the shelling:

  • Lyceums No. 2 and No. 7 have temporarily switched to distance learning;
  • kindergartens No. 6 and No. 7 are not accepting children during the day;
  • the rest of the educational and municipal institutions are operating as usual.

There is currently no information about casualties or injuries.

Not the first strike on an energy facility

It should be noted that this is not the first strike on an energy facility near Novovolynsk. Over the past three days, it has been shelled several times.

The city was left without electricity and water, and there were also interruptions in mobile communications.
