Russian troops have advanced northwest of Svatove in Luhansk region, southwest of Avdiivka in Donetsk region, in Robotyno in Zaporizhzhia region and north of Oleshky in Kherson region. This is stated in a report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
According to experts, on 5 and 6 May, geo-location footage was published in the public domain, according to which Russian troops slightly advanced east of Stelmakhivka and south of Krokhmalne (both northwest of Svatove).
At the same time, Russian military bloggers and officials reported on the advance of troops. They also claimed to have captured Kotlyarivka and Kyslivka, northwest of Svatove, but ISW has not seen visual evidence of these claims.
As of 6 May, Russian troops continued to assault:
- north-west of Svatove near Pishchane and Berestove;
- north-west of Kreminna near Nevske and Novosadove;
- west of Kreminna near Torske;
- south of Kreminna in the area of Serebryanske forestry and Bilohorivka.
The enemy also continued a limited offensive in the Siverskyi sector north-east of Bakhmut. According to ISW, there were no confirmed changes in the front line. on 6 May, the occupiers continued their attack on Chasiv Yar.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Ukrainian forces repelled attacks near Ivanivske and southeast of Chasiv Yar near Klishchiyivka and Andriivka.
Geo-location footage released on 6 May showed Russian troops advancing along the E50 road in eastern Netailove (southwest of Avdiivka).
Ukrainian and Russian sources reported that fighting continued in Netaylove. Russian milbloggers also claimed that the occupiers had advanced east of Novopokrovske (northwest of Avdiivka) to within two kilometres and that Russian troops had reached the outskirts of Novooleksandrivka (northwest of Ocheretyne and approximately 15km northwest of Avdiivka), although ISW has not yet observed evidence of Russian advances in these areas.

Russian sources claimed that the occupiers continued to advance west of Donetsk, but there were no confirmed changes to the frontline on 6 May. At the same time, several Russian milbloggers claimed that the occupiers had advanced to western Krasnohorivka. Instead, Lieutenant Colonel Nazar Voloshyn, a spokesman for the Ukrainian group of troops in Khortytsia, said that Russia was trying to storm Krasnohorivka in small groups, but that heavy fire from Ukrainian artillery was preventing them from consolidating their success and launching further attacks.

on 6 May, Russians also continued their attacks near the border of Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions. The attacks were directed northeast of Vuhledar near Vodyane and south of Velyka Novosilka near Urozhayne and Staromayrske. ISW has no information on the enemy’s advance.

In parallel, geolocation footage released on 6 May shows that Russian troops have advanced in southern Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia region, and north of Oleshky (southeast of Kherson).
Units of the Russian 70th Motorised Rifle Regiment (42nd Motorised Rifle Brigade) and drone operators of the 108th Airborne Regiment (7th Airborne Division) are reportedly operating near Robotyno.
Positional fighting continued near Krynky. The spokesman for the Southern Operational Command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Captain Dmytro Pletenchuk, said that Russian troops use up to 300 attack drones daily against Ukrainian positions in southern Ukraine. Pletenchuk also said that Russian troops are trying to take control of Nestryga Island in the Dnipro River Delta (southwest of Kherson) and are suffering significant losses.
