The Russians have committed another war crime – they executed an unarmed Ukrainian prisoner of war with a sword. The enemy continues to show disregard for any rules and laws. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the Telegram channel of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets.
Photos of the murdered Ukrainian soldier, allegedly with duct tape on his arms, with a sword with the inscription “For Kursk” stuck in his chest, are circulating online. The Ombudsman did not specify where and when this happened.
“Another war crime – the Russians executed an unarmed Ukrainian prisoner of war with his hands tied with tape. The level of barbarism and bloodthirstiness is incomprehensible. Such actions are a gross violation of the Geneva Convention relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War,” Lubinets wrote.
Lubinets, in turn, sent letters to international organisations, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the United Nations (UN), to record another human rights violation by Russian terrorists.
“I would like to emphasise that such demonstrative executions are aimed at demoralising Ukrainian society. However, seeing such actions, we must become even more determined in the fight against the aggressor,” the Ombudsman added.
It should be noted that the Russian army regularly commits war crimes on the territory of Ukraine.
As of early July, the Office of the Prosecutor General reported that the Russian army had executed more than 110 Ukrainian soldiers.
on 3 August, Lubinets also informed that he had appealed to the ICRC and the UN over the alleged brutal killing of a Ukrainian prisoner of war by Russians. At the time, it was allegedly about the severed limbs and head.
