On Saturday, December 27, the Russian occupiers once again attacked Ukraine’s gas and energy infrastructure. The enemy attacked Naftogaz’s production facilities and thermal power plants with Shaheds.

This is reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Telegram and the Naftogaz website.

“There were hits to Naftogaz Group’s CHP plants and gas production facilities,” the company said.

At the same time, the Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz of Ukraine Sergiy Koretsky noted that Russian attacks are synchronized with the cold snap. He explained that the enemy’s goal is to take advantage of the cold weather and peak load to disrupt the system.

“Emergency crews, technical services and all specialized units are working in an intensified mode to eliminate the consequences of the attack and restore the facilities,” Koretskyi added.

What the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine says about the Russian attack on December 27

The acting head of the Ministry of Energy, Artem Nekrasov, said that today the facilities for the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity in Kyiv and Kyiv region were attacked. Drones and missiles were flying at night and in the morning, and then the attacks continued during the day.

In particular, substations and overhead power lines, as well as some generation facilities, were heavily damaged by the shelling.

“As a result, emergency power cuts have been introduced in Kyiv and Kyiv region. In most regions of Ukraine, schedules of hourly blackouts and schedules of power limitation for industry and business continue to operate,” the Ministry of Energy said.

According to Nekrasov, as of 15:00, more than 500,000 consumers in Kyiv and the region are without power. In addition, consumers in other regions were left without electricity due to Russia’s attack on the energy infrastructure. In particular, more than 22 thousand customers in Chernihiv region are without electricity.

“The integrated power system of Ukraine remains intact and continues to operate in parallel with the power system of continental Europe. Electricity imports are used to balance the power system and measures are being taken to limit consumption,” the ministry emphasized.

At present, the liquidation of the consequences, restoration of electricity and heat supply has already begun. Power engineers are doing everything possible to restore heat and light to Ukrainians as soon as possible. However, the Ministry of Energy explained that these works are hampered by constant air raids.
