The GreenCool plant in Vinnytsia, which produced refrigerators and freezers, was completely destroyed by enemy shelling on July 16. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to20 Minutes.

According to the head of the company, Igor Gumenny, two Russian drones made a direct hit on the plant.

“The explosions and fire almost destroyed our enterprise,”

– mr. Humennyi said.

The company, which employed more than 1,350 people, has suspended operations. Estimated financial losses amount to approximately €60 million, which includes all the group’s investments in production since 2016. The final calculation of the losses is still ongoing.

The plant belongs to Igor Gumenny’s UBC Group, which produces refrigeration equipment. The attack on July 16 was the fourth Russian strike on his business since the start of the full-scale war.

Evacuation from under fire

UBC Group was forced to relocate its production facilities to Vinnytsia in 2022 after losing plants in Kharkiv region. The company evacuated equipment from Dergachi after losing two Kharkiv plants and warehouses with finished goods at the beginning of the Russian invasion.

These losses caused UBC Group’s revenues to decline by 40% in 2022. The transportation of production equipment from Kharkiv to Vinnytsia required 500 trucks to transport the equipment of the new Green Cool plant.

They plan to rebuild in four months

Despite the extent of the damage, the company’s management announced the start of recovery efforts. Mr. Humennyi noted that it could take up to four months to rebuild.

“This is a painful blow, but we already have experience in recovering from similar attacks,”

– said the businessman.

UBC Group cooperates with leading international corporations, including Pepsi, Heineken, Carlsberg and Nestlé. To mitigate risks, the company is expanding production in Bulgaria and launched a new plant in Kazakhstan this year alongside the restoration of Vinnytsia facilities.

“This is a temporary break, not the end,”

– emphasized Humennyi about the company’s future plans.
