Embezzlement of budget: official “earned” 3.5 million on construction of Podilskyi bridge

The deputy director of the Kyiv Directorate for the Construction of Road and Transport Facilities has been served with a notice of suspicion on the fact of negligence that caused serious consequences during the construction of the Podil Bridge in Kyiv. In April 2017, this utility company and the general contractor signed a contract for the construction of the Podil Bridge over the Dnipro River in Kyiv.
In June 2023, the suspect, improperly performing his official duties, did not check the actual amount of construction material used – river sand and the costs of operating construction machines and mechanisms, but signed the acceptance certificates for the construction work performed in June 2023.
“We are talking about the construction of the subgrade on the section of the Rusanivski Sady dam to Perov Boulevard. The certificates of completion contain overstated information about the use of sand, as well as overstated volumes of work performed. According to the conclusions of forensic construction, technical and economic examinations, the amount of damage to the territorial community is more than UAH 3.5 million,” the prosecutor’s office said.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Podilskyi Police Department in Kyiv with the operational support of the State Investigation Department in Kyiv. The investigation is ongoing.
