SAPO wants to confiscate 5 apartments and a car from MP Marchenko: details of the case

The SAPO has appealed to the High Anti-Corruption Court to recognize the assets of a current Ukrainian MP as unjustified. The Anti-Corruption Action Center said that it was Lyudmyla Marchenko, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
According to the press service of the prosecutor‘s office, the prosecutor filed a lawsuit on September 1 on the basis of evidence collected independently and provided by NABU detectives.
What they want to confiscate
The statement of claim concerns
- five apartments,
- property rights to another apartment,
- and a Toyota Land Cruiser.
The total value of the assets exceeds UAH 8.2 million.
How the property was concealed
According to the investigation, in order to conceal the acquisition of property, the ownership was registered in the name of the MP’s father and his brother’s partner. An analysis of the income of the MP, his family members and close relatives showed that it was impossible to legally acquire these objects.
In view of this, the SAPO prosecutor asks the court to recognize the assets as unjustified and to recover them for the state.
The prosecutor’s office noted that they will report on the progress and results of the case additionally.
By the way, the MP is a defendant in the case of men’s illegal travel abroad under the Shlyakh system. The case is at the stage of examining written evidence and questioning witnesses.
