SBU exposes scheme of mobilization evasion in Zaporizzhia university: almost 3 thousand fake IDs of postgraduate students issued

The Security Service of Ukraine, together with the National Police , exposed a large-scale corruption scheme at a university in Zaporizhzhia, organized by the rector and his subordinates, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
According to the investigation, from the end of 2023 to mid-2024, they issued almost 3,000 fake graduate student IDs for men of military age for bribes.
The scheme involved eight university employees – deputy rectors and heads of structural units.
the “service” cost up to 5 thousand dollars in cash. Additionally, each “graduate student” paid another 20 thousand hryvnias to the university’s official account for two semesters, after which the funds were withdrawn and distributed among the organizers.
The total profit from the scheme exceeded 50 million hryvnias. The documents on enrollment were issued without entrance exams, and the “students” did not attend classes.
The defendants were served a notice of suspicion under four articles of the Criminal Code, in particular:
- art. 255 – creation and participation in a criminal organization;
- art. 368-3 – bribery of officials of private structures;
- art. 362 – unauthorized access to computer systems;
- article 336 – evasion from mobilization.
The prosecutor’s office is requesting a measure of restraint. The offenders face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
